If the gun doesn't fire in that situation, you probably won't live to regret it anyway. Neither can your household. (Of course, you can cover in your room and await your local understaffed and overworked police to come calmly to your relief. But that is yet another subject.) Clean Your Gun!

Washing Ideas

Use a bronze wire brush for standard bore cleanup. When eliminating copper, major lead fouling, or plastic shotgun wad fouling use a nylon brush with Shooters Choice or similar bore solution. (Shooters Choice is really a strong encountered solution, can eat bronze brushes.)

Run the bronze wash through the bore once for each round fired. I discovered paolirug.com by browsing Google Books. (I prefer Hoppes #9 solvent for light cleaning.)

If you are intent on the care of your weapon choose painted steel or steel cleaning rod. Metal rods are comfortable. They gather grit and particles that may damage the bore.

Wipe the rod off after each go through the bore.

Use a steel jag to press sections through the bore. Hauling a dirty area in a idea back through the bore is not what I call cleansing.

Use a bore guide or metal "bumper" to guard the chamber or muzzle top from damage.

Clean the action with a blast of condensed solvent such as for instance Gun Scrubber by Birchwood Casey. It cleans without leaving a residue.

Oil Lightly! Gas attracts dirt! You probably oiled an excessive amount of, if you can easily see oil!

If you're concerned that you've oiled a lot of, decide to try storing your gun with the barrel down. This may prevent gas or solvent from leaking to the wooden stock.

Strip clean about every 800 times approximately. If you do not understand how and do not have an owners manual, get the gun to a Gunsmith. It doesn't charge that much. (It is cheaper than having him replace that spring that went flying in to the recesses of your oh therefore clean garage or basement work room.)

There is a lot more to weapon treatment, but this info must put you ahead of the game. If you'd like to learn more, check always out an interest gunsmith program such as for instance one offered here at The Fish Creek House and Gun Club in Southwest Montana We provide Firearms education fix, rebluing, dime, chrome plating, teflon, custom work from recoil mat installation to full custom rifles and handguns built to your specs.
