Abstract: In the first part of the talk, I will introduce a specific class infinite interval exchange transformations, called rotated odometers, and explain how each such transformation can be realised as the first return map of a flow on a non-compact surface of infinite genus. In the second part of the talk, more technical and aimed at specialists, I will briefly describe the results about the ergodic and dynamical properties of rotated odometers.
