Car stereo decks come in different sizes to fit inside the stereo mounting decks of the variety of cars, trucks and SUVs. Vehicles that demand a double-din stereo deck can fit aftermarket head units that are twice as tall as the regular single DIN stereo units. After you have purchased the double-din stereo deck, you'll have it professionally installed at an after-market car audio retailer, or hook it up yourself and save the price of work.

Loosen the cable's clamp using a wrench and lift the cable in the battery terminal. Place the cable to the side of the battery to prevent shorting the vehicle's electrical system during the installation.

Remove the automobile's stock stereo. See the shop manual for directions specific to your own vehicle. Disconnect the stereo wiring and antenna cable from the back of the unit to totally free it from the automobile's dashboard stereo dock.

Insert the double-din stereo installation faceplate adapter into the unoccupied stereo dock. Press the kit into the dashboard until it locks into place inside the dock. Pull the wiring and antenna cable from the back of the dock to the front part of the dashboard.

Plug the wiring connectors into the corresponding leads of the wiring harness adapter. See the adaptor's manual for appropriate link or follow the color-code on the harness itself.

Plug the wiring harness adapter lead connectors into the outlets on the back of the double-din stereo. Common places for the stereo wiring are on the proper part of the stereo's rear panel.

Slide the stereo directly into the dock lined with the adapter. Until it locks into place inside the dashboard drive the unit into the dash. Return to the vehicle's battery.

Replace the negative battery cable clamp onto the negative battery terminal. Tighten the cable to the clamp with all the wrench. Near the vehicle's hood.
