At the.. I wound up volunteering to train baseball, a game I new not quite nothing about. Right after I wound up with the work, a parent greeted me and asked what sort of coaching style I would definitely use. After I were able to clean up the blank look on my experience and stammer out some lame answer, I drove quickly to the privacy of my own home to avoid anymore questions, and thus, not let my inexperience be identified, for I knew after that question that I was in way over my head. At the time I was probably more worthy of coach basketball, but basketball was what I was worked. A friend of mine who had played basketball in senior high school said that his coach had used a hands-on coaching model. The coach played with the athletes, showing them different techniques to use, and what situation to use them in, etcHowever, he also stated that coaching basketball is significantly more than just playing basketball with the children like his coach did, but coaching is also about teaching simple skills that the participants can use forever, in addition to group work. Feeling confused following this conversation and even more hopeless I set out to do large re-search about the topic of teaching basketball. I immediately realized a large list of sources existed to help me, which gave a great feeling to me of comfort. I had never thought of such concepts as team play, sportsmanship and sharing in regards to coaching sports before, but from my reading I begun to get acquainted with the topics and a few ideas. I quickly discovered that baseball was about more than just getting a ball through a hoop. Within my research I began reading articles that focused on building capabilities and confidence level in young athletes while coaching. I did my far better absorb everything, but still felt that I may be a little from my element coaching a basketball team. I'd to continually reassure myself that I could take action. The entire experience eventually taught me that before you can coach others you should be in a position to coach your self, but Im getting ahead of myself. Ive been coaching for six months now. I'm Ive done a reasonable job of helping my participants develop skills and confidence levels they can use on the court and within the real life. This experience has taught me much about myself and about teaching. In relation to teaching, I have discovered that it's not all fun and games, but a massive responsibility; nevertheless, I feel Ive prepared myself for the task. While coaching a team might seem an extremely attractive work to a lot of a sports fan, it is not easy. I only coach at the Junior Higher level and its stressful and tedious. I cant imagine what it is like at the professional stage, and I dont desire to. If you are interested in being a coach, ensure and give some serious thought to it.
